Description
With a heavy heart, I am looking for an exceptionally good new home for two of my horses.
Due to the enormous insect pressure in the floodplains where we live, I can no longer responsibly keep two of my three horses here. Both horses have developed an allergy to midges (culicoides). Despite eczema rugs and fly masks, the pressure remains so high that I must make a different choice for their well-being.
I am looking for a true 10-star home for them in a dry, open, and preferably windy location. Think of a polder, a location close to the coast, or a large open plain, without marshy meadows or standing water. In places where it is regularly windy, the midge pressure is usually much lower.
Ideally, they would go to someone who identifies with the vision behind Human & Horse and who values a calm, honest, and horse-friendly way of training.
### Farruco – 10-year-old PRE gelding
Yunque VII x Farruca LXXVI
Farruco is a large, exceptionally beautiful PRE with an impressive presence, lots of feathers, and a magnificent mane.
We brought him from Spain ourselves about 2.5 years ago. After his arrival in the Netherlands, he turned out to be very stallion-like, so we had him gelded about five months later. Since then, he has changed tremendously. He has grown into a very sweet, willing, and correct horse with good manners.
In Spain, Farruco was ridden intensively. With us, he first received the time and peace to land physically and mentally. In the meantime, we are calmly picking up work again, both from the ground and under saddle.
The focus now is on relaxation, trust, length in his body, and calm long-and-low work. From his previous training, he knew a lot of collection and was quick to think of piaffe. We are now guiding him step by step towards more peace and balance.
I completed my training in instruction and liberty, among others, with Greetje Hakvoort. Farruco is currently being further guided from that vision.
He wears an eczema rug and mask here, but despite all measures, the insect pressure at our location remains too heavy for him.
### Watze van Diphoorn – 11-year-old Friesian gelding
Bartele x Sierk
Watze is my best friend and without a doubt one of the sweetest horses I have ever known.
He has been with me for years during my training in Academic Horsemanship, with a strong emphasis on ground work. Our last training together was the liberty course with Greetje Hakvoort.
Watze is very well-behaved and extensively trained in ground work and liberty. He is people-oriented, reliable, and very much wants to be with you and work together. He has a gentle character and works with great pleasure and attention.
He is also currently being picked up again calmly under saddle.
Watze naturally has plenty of beautiful feathers and mane. Unfortunately, he has also developed an allergy to midges, and the insect pressure at our current location has become too heavy.
### Conditions
Their well-being stands above all else for me. Therefore, I am not looking for a quick sale, but for the right people and the right place.
Dealers are excluded. I would like to be able to stay in touch and know where they end up and how they are doing.
Only serious responses from people who can actually offer dry, open, and windy housing.
