Gentle: Sweet leisure/dressage mare
Description
I am looking for a new home for my incredibly sweet and affectionate mare Gentle. I am selling her due to a hand injury that I have been dealing with for a year now.
• Name: Gentle
• Year of birth: 2011 (15 years old)
• Sex: Mare
• Height at withers: 1.63 m
• Pedigree: Broere Valdez
• Discipline: Leisure / Dressage / All-rounder
Versatility in training:
Gentle is a horse that thoroughly enjoys variety. She can be ridden for leisure as well as actively trained in dressage. Groundwork, poles, lunging, long-reining, or a small jump also suit her well.
Suitable for various riders:
• Leisure rider: If you ask for little, she behaves well and walks around neatly. She listens well, is nice in the hand, and responsive to the aids.
• Experienced rider / active training: Get started and much more comes out. She can then show quite a few dressage exercises, whether perfectly executed or not, and move nicely. The more you ask, she gives more.
• She is well-behaved in traffic and does not care about large tractors or roaring engines. However, she can sometimes be a bit distracted when a lot is happening around her.
• I do not find her suitable for a beginner or very young rider.
Character
In terms of character, she is an absolute jackpot. She loves grooming, cuddling, walking, and washing. In handling, she is super well-behaved.
Physical point of attention (dressage):
Gentle naturally places her left hind leg slightly outside the mass. If you ride for nice leisure, you will not notice this at all. If you start training-oriented work, she needs to step this leg underneath. Because of this, she sometimes has some difficulty with the left canter and the bend/flexion. This means you do have to ride her forward into it. But the more you train her, the better she puts that leg underneath. This is precisely what I cannot manage due to my hand injury.
Health and management:
We are looking for a buyer who can offer her the right management regarding her hay fever (pollen and grass allergy):
• She is kept on hay instead of haylage.
• With us, she stays in the paddock instead of the pasture. She can possibly go on the grass, depending on location and medication dosage.
• With her current medication (inhaler), a well-fitting fly mask (possibly also during riding outside), her symptoms are perfectly under control. At her previous stable location, due to a different layout, she had virtually no symptoms.
The ideal home:
Gentle comes into her own best at a small-scale stable or at home with a leisure or more enthusiastic rider who enjoys working with her in a versatile way, and also loves grooming or doing groundwork.
Dealers or riding schools do not need to reply.
She was fully clinically and radiographically inspected 5 years ago. Re-inspection is allowed at buyer's expense.
If interested, with questions, or to request videos, you can contact us via response or PM. Gentle can be viewed in De Mortel.
