Fill in the registration form and send us photos, videos, pedigree, competition results and veterinary details. Please also state your asking price.

Assessment in Putten
After an initial selection, you will be invited to our sales location in Putten. During this appointment, we assess and test the horse and jointly determine a realistic selling price.

Sales preparation
During a 2-week trial period, within the total sales period of up to 3 months, we take professional photos and videos, list the horse on SportHorses and evaluate market interest.

Quality assurance
Clinical and radiographic examination
To safeguard the quality of the horses within the SportHorses Sales Service, a recent clinical and radiographic examination is mandatory.

Application
First complete the application form in full. Based on the information you provide, we assess whether your horse or pony is eligible for our sales service.

Submitting the examination report
If your horse or pony appears suitable for our sales service, we ask you to submit a recent clinical examination report together with the radiographs listed below.
The radiographs and the examination report are assessed independently by our permanent veterinary adviser:

Selection
If the examination is assessed positively, we invite you to present your horse or pony to the SportHorses Sales Service. The horse is then assessed by one of our experienced riders.
The assessment covers, among other things:
- character and reliability
- rideability
- natural ability
- quality of the gaits or the jump
- suitability for the target rider
- overall presentation

- The radiographs must be of good quality and clearly legible.
- The examination report should preferably be no more than 6 months old.
- If the information submitted is insufficient, SportHorses may request additional examinations or new images.
- The final decision on whether a horse is accepted into the SportHorses Sales Service rests solely with SportHorses. No rights can be derived from a positive veterinary assessment.

Clear rates, no surprises
Our commission fee depends on the final selling price. The costs for livery, training and presentation are fixed in advance.

- Which horses are eligible?
- We select sport horses that meet the Sporthorses quality standard. During the assessment in Putten, we look at conformation, paces, rideability, temperament, pedigree and, where applicable, competition results. Not every horse is automatically eligible.
- How long does the sales process take?
- The sales period lasts a maximum of 3 months, including a 2-week trial period to evaluate market interest. In most cases, the horse is successfully sold within this period.
- Is a pre-purchase exam required?
- Yes. A full pre-purchase exam is mandatory, carried out by a licensed vet and approved by Sporthorses. The exam must be no older than 6 months at the start of the process.
- How much does participation cost?
- The first two weeks cost €475, including livery, riding and photography. After that you pay €750 per month, including VAT. The sales period lasts a maximum of 3 months and payment is made monthly in advance. Upon a successful sale, we charge a commission fee that depends on the sale price.
- Can I retrieve my horse early?
- Yes, that is possible by mutual agreement. We set out the conditions for this in advance in our contract so that both parties know where they stand.
- Who decides the asking price?
- The asking price is agreed upon during the assessment in Putten. We combine your wishes with our market knowledge to reach a realistic and achievable sale price.
- What does 'Approved by Sporthorses' mean?
- The 'Approved by Sporthorses' seal is awarded to horses that we have personally assessed and professionally manage throughout the sales process. For buyers, this offers extra assurance regarding quality and presentation.
- Will my horse be promoted internationally?
- Yes. In addition to being listed on Sporthorses, we use our international network and social channels to bring your horse to the attention of serious buyers in the UK and abroad.
